We all need a lil loving

Tap-estry

Today, I have my tap class where I teach 6th-8th graders some tap basics! So far they are really good, I think their final show will look pretty A class.

I love American tap, more than the old school traditional classical tap. It is more funky and down in the ground compared to the lighter, more methodical tapping ways. I've trained in both, my old tap teacher was the original Tap Dog on which the movie and musical Tap Dogs was based off.

It's an awesome movie! Watch it some time, or also Stomp is good too!!

Malaysia Truely Asia

As I sit here, outside is a huge storm. Looking outside, it would seem it was really very cold, windy, rainy - a typical winters day. But, it's actually still over 30 degrees celcius, it's a tropical rain storm!
As I'm getting closer to saying goodbye to my Asian home of over 4 years, I'm beginning to appreciate more and realise what I will miss.
1) Telese, she's awesome and an amazing cook! today she made us salmon fish cake which were soo good. They're healthy and tasty and have a hint of spice, typical to asia!

Breathe in, Breathe out

The basis of yoga is to live in the moment.
Clear the mind.
Push out all fast, worrying thoughts
Slow it down
Breathe
Relax
Live
That's exactly what I'm off to do
Meditate and find balance.

Start Affresh

Stop
Pause
Enjoy

In life, no matter if we are growing up or grown up, there comes a time when we may need to just stop and BREATHE! There is always hard moments to deal with in our lives, but I think moving on from someone or having someone exit your life when they had such a huge part to play is particularly hard. It doesn't matter in what way they did leave your life, but in any way its difficult. This song by Taylor Swift and Colbie Caillet is just what you need to listen to!

Fashion Frenzy: Go Red!

It's time to prepare for winter!  Although living in Malaysia means that winter is non-existent, I still love the time of year when its getting colder, layering needs to happen to keep warm!!

This week, it's time for a red dress! Usually winter colours tend to be more neutral, with perhaps one or two bright colours to bring some life. This year, I say go red! Today, I'm looking at various red evening dresses, because underneath all those layers, it is nice to wear something beautiful! Which one do you like?
Jason Wu:
Camilla silk chiffon strapless gown

Issa
Silk chiffon gown

Notte by Marchesa
silk crepe one-shoulder dress

All three, are beautifully elegant, whether strapless, with straps or one shouldered, they all carry the wow factor! With the right clutch, heels and jewelry these dresses look amazing. Shopping time!

Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner

The one and only classic dance film, Dirty Dancing
It's so important to have a hobby, passion and love for something whether it is rugby, singing or in my case dancing! Since a young age, I remember the excitement I had (and still get) when I was picking out a new leotard, trying on those new pointes for the first time or even being able to achieve that new difficult straight leg split jump.

At this time in life, I really feel connected to dance.
I'm facing a difficult decision as to what to study in university!!!!! I can either take the intellectually interesting international business/relations and french cultural studies and language....or to do something I love, choreography and dance teaching.
It's a tough choice, but I know where my heart, and feet, are pulling me.
Make your own choices, do what makes you happy, not what's expected. If something fails, you can always try something new.

Who can forget Baby? the naive girl who lets go of her inhibitions and takes the first step to achieving her dreams and becoming a woman. An inspirational character.

Early Beginnings

Welcome,
your'e as new to my blog as I am. I guess I'm here for a few reasons, to explore what makes me and those around me tick. The fashion world, music world and my world is fast paced. I suppose to explain the name of my blog, "Just Press Play", it's to stop, look, explore and enjoy what is already 'in'. Life is often either fast forwarded, where we move from place to place without living in the moment, or perhaps some of us are the opposite, always looking in the past, rewinding, contemplating what we would have done different. Either way, our general outlook on life stops us living in this precise moment, just taking life as it comes. That's what I am planning to learn throughout my journey on this blog, and maybe you too will learn to just press play, and leave the fast forwarding or rewinding of life behind. Enjoy
